This is the car Richard Neal gave up with some cash to purchase some 40 odd acres of the Cottrill estate. It has been four years and the Gilmer County Commission has still not closed out the Cottrill estate which seems to have as much misconduct being discovered as the infamous AJ Woofter estate debacle, where the Butcher and Butcher law offices refused to do an accounting for 12 years, although accounting’s were requested by attorneys for five years prior to the account finally being settled in 2007.

Investigators looking into the death of Willard Cottrill feel both Mike Wheeler and Ben Huffman (who is the current Glenville Po Po Chief who pulled a gun on Ruth Mitchell ordering her from her house before the Supreme Court ruled 4 to 1 that she could stay there rent free the rest of her life)completely bungled the Willard Cottrill MURDER investigation. Many feel, Wheeler, and Huffman former Gilmer County Sheriff Deputy are guilty of misconduct concerning the murder case of Willard Cottrill. Many feel that not only did WHEELER who it is reported recently had sex with TIFFANY the girl Gilmer County assigned to assist Ruth Mitchell, further complicated the issue of the murder investigation with the SEX ACT with a married woman, but also, that the Gilmer County Sheriffs Deputy actually aided in the murder of Willard Cottrill, by being the chief investigator of the murder, and then, vying to keep “Debbie” protected, the hospice nurse person. This person who is still unknown as far as being positively identified was the alleged HOSPICE NURSE on the scene of the death by drug overdose of Willard Cottrill. Also Deputy Wheeler vowed to protect Dr Hillary Miller who prescribed a deadly dose of morphine over the phone without ever seeing the patient Willard Cottrill.

Willard Cottrill just before he was murdered with a lethal dose of Morphine. He tried to keep his mouth closed, but the drugs were forced in his mouth and down his throat like a GSC CO-ED on a Friday night at Goodwin Hall. The drugs were obtained on 10-20 and Willard died on 10-20. SISTER MORPHINE Venita Cottrill Murphy Willards daughter called Dr Miller in Glenville to get the dope, and then stole his lock box and important papers and left immediately after Willards body was removed. As much as 50,000 dollars of money that belonged to RUTH MITCHELL was in that box in cash. Michael Murphy according to witnesses was offering cash bribes for some family members as hush money. As much as 3,000 cash was pushed into the hands of one family member, but it was refused, and then she contacted an attorney, and then the Central West Virginia SS that have been investigating this brutal crime for months.
It is AWFULLY hard to keep trying to forgive, after you digest this tale of murder, and killing in the name of money and property in Crooked County.
“I’m pretty sure if someone talks to Dr Hillary Miller, she won’t deny it! What she did that is, the fact that she was actually and integral part of a planned murder for money, for you can’t really do a proper killing without the proper drugs!”
“Venita Sister Morphine crushed up various meds including oxycodone, xanax in a spoon, poured morphine over it and added a glob of pudding on top. When Willard Cottrill kept his mouth closed and refused it, Freda Cottrill (Melvins wife) held his head while Sweet Sister Morphine shoved the spoon in his mouth. Approx. 5-6 hours later he was dead. Sweet Sister Morphine picked up Willards lockbox, with thousands in CASH and all his important papers and left immediately after leaving poor Ruth Mitchell (Willard’s companion) to sit there by herself in the room where they just killed the man she loved more than anything in the world!
Dr. Miller apparently called in the prescription for Morphine to the Gil Co pharmacy — Dr. Miller later said she was lied to!
“Dr Hillary Miller of Glenville was scared when questioned, but said she was lied to by Venita – Sister Morphine, and that she was sorry that Willard was dead!”
Even so, that still does not mean DR DEATH, Dr Miller was not guilty as hell of conspiracy to commit a heinous crimes with others, and several of those others came from out of state to forcefully deliver a powerful drug to a helpless man, and there was a witness… Ruth Mitchell the long time companion of the dead man. Ruth witnessed the killing and explained it word for word recently to a high ranking member of the SS, and then it was shared with the CCC.

Freda is the person that went an picked up the Morphine prescribed over the phone my Dr Miller of Glenville, WV. Freda held Willards head when he refused the spoon filled with deadly narcotics that SISTER MORPHINE Venita Cottrill was trying to force into his mouth. Venita was finally successful and jammed the deadly dose in there like Gabe Phrophet forcing his penis into the mouth of Mary Hudnall after football practice at GSC — Venita administered the initial deadly dose and Freda is the one that gave Willard the last dose and called out when she thought he was dead! Another murder in Crooked County, and another cover up by Gerald B Hough and the Gilmer County Sheriff, that is until the Secret Seven Coalition found out about it and yanked those under cover – covers off … exposing the nakedness of it all just like jerking the covers off of Amy Riddle at the home of Larry Chapman!

Diana Holmes is a career student studying criminal justice taking grants to go to school for YEARS, but was a close friend of Willard Cottrill and friend of the family. But she used to work for Sheriff Metz. She has said that Hough saw her in the store and she said something to him and he basically told her if she ever wanted to work in criminal law in that town she should shut her mouth and forget what she knows. In fact the above quote is exactly what Gerry Hough said to Diana Holmes. Holmes escorted the live in companion of Willard Cottrill, Ruth Mitchell, who also witnessed the murder and who several SS members have talked to and interviewed personally. Mitchell and Diane Holmes witnessed the home of Cottrill being looted and saw personal items and CASH being taken out of the house within hours of Willard’s body being hauled away to the funeral home. Mike Muphy shown at the top of the page along with Melvin Cottrill, Willard’s brother allegedly have stolen multiple thousands of dollars of personal property, a vehicle and the personal cash savings of Ruth Mitchell, and ALL THE CRIMES are being covered up by Gerald B Hough Gilmer County Prosecutor, and the Gilmer County Sheriff’s department.
Ruth Mitchell has lived to tell about all the other people who were there that fateful night and witnessed the murder. And it WAS murder!!

This type of crime we found has happened more than once in Crooked County, and BEVERLY MARKS in her elected position of County Commission Clerk has helped several crimes occur, of course, always for a handsome under the table pay off. Typically, in Gilmer County, some domineering family members take control of the home hospice environment, purposely excluding the rest of the family from any involvement in the care, and withhold information about the medications being given to the patient and the actual dosages given. If you are a live in care giver no matter how many years of dedication you provided, expect to be cast aside.
Eventually, domineering family members may achieve their goal of euthanizing the patient. In cases like this, the patient dies, devastating other family members and shortening the life of the patient who was not actively dying at the time, eventually enraging those family members who only later find out that their loved one was killed.

In Glenville the County seat of Crooked County, the necessary power of attorney, will or whatever is required to “Settle the estate” is in hand and what passes for a coroner will be readily available before the lethal dose is given unknowingly by a nursing assistant in a pre-prepared feeding. The poor thing will be devastated as the patient suddenly begins to die and she makes a frantic call to the family leader of care who is already on the way. The “Coroner” will say that the last words of a patient whose mind was clear but whose too young to die body was broken were “help me” as they were moved to the ambulance they are doomed to die in. The “Coroner” will also swear to deny the story if it is ever repeated. They will deny the authority to even take a sample of the last material fed to a patient through a feeding tube or an IV. The funeral home will deny any access to the body “at the family request” and the next thing you know the deceased is cremated. At that point, when someone arrives to remove the end of life drugs they will find the count very off and a contrite family member saying “they were suffering” which seems odd since the patient had never required pain medication but as the staffer had permitted the access and it is “embarrassing” the questions finally subside and tomorrow is another day for everyone but the one who wanted to live. It will be more embarrassing to the family when they find out the young person living in the home is now “addicted” to pain killers, using the needle and sharing with friends. Who will be the next victim? More importantly, who cares? That’s the attitude of the ELITE!

Other, more loving, family members may have expressed their need to be informed about the care being given to their loved ones, even though domineering family members had excluded them from the process without the knowledge of the patient. It is not easy for certain family members to speak up or protect their loved ones from domineering and aggressive family members who “Bully” them. Seems there’s a lot of that’s been going on around here for quite some time.
There was a car of 1961 vintage in front of the Common Place Restaurant, now Audrey’s family restaurant in Glenville, and the Barney Fife’s around here are involved in more REAL CRIME than solving it and that is no laughing matter, but you see a shit grin on Deputy Ben Huffman’s face in the photo below left – because according to SS investigations, M Murphy handed him cash to set Ruth Mitchell up for a crime – and the Mayberry Sheriff car may actually come to Glenville, WV for a visit, but even Barney fife would not be involved in criminal activity, but then Barney never found himself in a place called Crooked County either!
It is important to note that in the situation explained above, if a professional had questioned other family members, the plan of care would have been modified to respect the patient’s and other family members’ actual wishes, the patient would have lived much longer. It would only take one properly trained worker to prevent an involuntary euthanasia but certain family care takers don’t seem to cotton to education, all they want is someone able to do the dirty work they are not prepared to do for “The rest of anybody’s life”. They don’t want “Strangers” in their house.
While many providers of home hospice assert that they will neither hasten death nor prolong death, family members are encouraging them to misuse or lull them into a sense of false security which ultimately permits misuse of common end of life interventions to hasten death. Terminal sedation, a common intervention to relieve severe agitation at the end of life, can be misapplied to place patients into a medically-induced coma from which they are not allowed to recover. They die of dehydration while sleeping, thereby allowing for a ‘pretty’ and ‘peaceful,’ but unnatural death, i.e. murder.
“I got down there by 3:30 the next day and EVERYTHING Willard had of any value was gone. The Executor – Michael Murphy – was not supposed to allow ANYTHING to be taken or moved until the will was probated, yet I saw him time and again during those next two weeks come with a posse of Melvin Cottrill, Venita ,Freda and several of Freda’s brothers – They all come to carry off everything they could get. I had to actually BODY BLOCK them from taking the freezer full of food! Melvin Cottrill drove Willard’s pride and joy truck off the property while the ones that loved him were at the graveside watching the dirt being shoveled onto the casket while I cried! There are witnesses to ALL of this, but they’re afraid and many have been paid off, others threatened by Wheeler and Gerry Hough! Murphy tried to shut me up with $3,000 cash! It felt like a day Old Dixie died!”
Shown in this photo is Ben Huffman Gilmer County Sheriff Deputy who showed up with no warrant at the home of Ruth Mitchell who watched while Willard Cottrill was murdered by SISTER MORPHINE – Huffman, Sister Morphine, and Mike Murphy forced their way into the home and into Ruth’s private bedroom where Huffman drew his weapon and then proceeded to help Sister Morphine and Murphy TOSS the room and search with no warrant. Ruth Mitchell Screamed, “You can’t do this!” Huffman replied, “There is nothing you can do about it,” and then proceeded to talk to Ruth Mitchell worse than he would a stray dog! NO PERMISSION WAS GIVEN FOR THE SEARCH BUT THAT IS HOW THEY DO IT DOWN IN GILMER COUNTY!! The SS is currently seeking a meeting with HUFFMAN and deputy Wheeler about the incident, but we heard the matter was cleared by Mickey Metz himself, so no surprise there!
In some cases, the physician may simply believe he is aggressively treating pain or sedating the patient to avoid discomfort. However, in other cases, the physician becomes an active accomplice to a plan to perform euthanasia, with or without the patient’s consent. In these cases, a majority of the family may not only disagree with this plan, but the patient may resist these overdose attempts. If the hospice staff does not ascertain and respect the wishes of the patient, and simply rely on the information from the domineering member of the family, the patient ends up getting medications which cause his demise without any chance of being able to defend himself.
The euthanasia advocates have always known that hospice could be used as the back door to legalization of euthanasia and/or physician-assisted suicide. In our rural area with few to no professional staff available, domineering and self serving personal care givers are often given far too much access to pain relieving, addicting and potentially fatal drugs.
That is what has been going on around here in Gilmer County for some time. We have families reporting their loved one was killed off outright within the home in the name of end of life care, through inappropriate use of medications when there was no clinical need, resulting in the death of an otherwise non-dying patient.
Those who think home hospice is the safe alternative to open euthanasia have been outfoxed. The euthanasia promoters have run circles around the well-meaning but naive right to lifers. So whether euthanasia is legalized openly or ‘Back-doored’ through hospice, euthanasia is here, and it has been here for a long time.
“Citizens of Gilmer County need to remain vigilant in determining whether their loved one is receiving end of life care, or is receiving care that leads to the end of life at will, and call that what it is … murder!”
Glenville Sheriffs deputy Wheeler is in charge of the investigation into this murder and we believe he received a substantial amount of cash to squash this case like a bug, and we are sure Hough who is a WHORE for cash was also paid off, and we have made a request that the justice department become involved and question all the principle players and Crooked Crooks from Crooked County that live down by the Crooked River!
Willard Cottrill’s life’s dream was to own his own mountain and god granted him that right, it was not right for his life to be taken, but it was not taken without a fight, he struggled and then lost, but if we could have read his mind, this what he would have said…

Beverly Marks is once again accused of criminal activity involving this Cottrill Murder case in the same sort of fashion she committed a crime involving the infamous “Missing 1/6th” during the Travesty of Justice case.
Also a complaint was filed against F JOHN OSHOWAY with the ODC in Charleston who allowed the missing 1/6th matter to happen, and also had a complaint filed against him for criminal misconduct involving this specific case, the murder of Willard Cottrill.

Complaint: Calhoun attorney engaging in ‘Legal tomfoolery’

CHARLESTON – A New York woman is accusing a Calhoun County attorney of “legal tomfoolery” in representing her interests in an estate dispute in neighboring Gilmer County.
Marlea Cottrill on April 9 filed an ethics complaint against F. John Oshoway with the Office of Disciplinary Counsel, the arm of the state Supreme Court that investigates attorney misconduct.
In her complaint, Cottrill, 51, of Jump, N.Y., a suburb of Syracuse, hired Oshoway, 60, a sole practitioner in Grantsville, to defend her in a lawsuit involving the estate of her late father, Willard, only to have him do next to nothing.
According to her complaint, Willard Cottrill passed away in October 2010 “under extreme and unusual circumstances.” In June, Cottrill was named as a co-defendant in a suit to quiet title filed by the estate’s executor, Michael W. Murphy, her brother-in-law in Gilmer Circuit Court.
The suit seeks to divest any interest on Willard’s property in Linn claimed by Ruth Mitchell, the other co-defendant. According to the suit, Willard in his will dated Nov. 1, 2006, requested Mitchell, “be provided a residence on his real property,” but “‘shall not preclude divestiture of the property by heirs, and is not intended to establish a life tenancy.'”
It was not until two months later, Cottrill says, that she found out about it, and only through Mitchell. In a panic, she says she drove nine hours to Gilmer County to find an attorney to answer the complaint or risk losing all her rights to inheritance.
Eventually, she found Oshoway who agreed to accept her case for $2,000. Initially, Cottrill paid him $500, and sent him a check for the balance after returning to New York.
Between then and last month, Cottrill says Oshoway has failed to communicate with her about not only the status of the case, but its implications. Also, he has failed to provide her copies of any court documents filed since then including her answer.
All documents she’s received have either been provided by Mitchell or her attorney, Dan Grindo. A copy of the answer Oshoway filed for Cottrill, that Grindo’s office sent her via fax on Sept. 2, 2011, does not bear the time-stamp of the circuit clerk’s office.
Because she was not properly served with a summons, and copy of the complaint, Cottrill says Oshoway should’ve moved to have her dismissed from the suit. However, he failed to do that.
Eventually, Cottrill says she received a telephone call from Oshoway early last month. In it, she says he expressed bewilderment she hadn’t received any documents from him, but would ensure she receive a copy of all pleadings made since she hired him.
However, when she did not receive anything after two weeks, Cottrill wrote him a letter asking him to withdraw from the case. In her letter, she also asked he provide an accounting of his work, and a refund of her retainer.
Shortly thereafter, Oshoway responded saying he would be filing a motion to withdraw as her attorney. However, he disputed receiving an additional $1,500 from her after the initial $500. Instead, he said the check she sent was for $1,000.
In her complaint, Cottrill says that “is absolutely untrue” and provided a copy of the cancelled check Oshoway cashed for $1,500. Also, she made clear the basis of her complaint she was not disputing Oshoway’s fee, but instead his “lack of communication, and zealous representation for the work I thought I paid him to do.”
“One of my concerns,” Cottrill said, “is the area of West Virginia that Mr. Oshoway works from is severely economically depressed and I wonder how often this sort of legal tomfoolery happens.”
“I fear for the people of Calhoun and Gilmer counties that have no other means of justice as Mr. Oshoway doesn’t seem the least bit inclined to follow up on clients’ needs or wishes once he has been paid,” Cottrill added. “And even then, Mr. Oshoway doesn’t seem to feel the need to accurately reflect records of payment received by those clients.”
When reached for a comment about Cottrill’s complaint, Oshoway said “I was not aware it.” Also, he said “I wouldn’t comment on it” after seeing it.
According to ODC, Cottrill’s complaint is one of four pending against Oshoway.
At least Melvin is gettin what he deserves after years of screwing Willard over while he was alive. Venita and Mike never visited Willard, the only one i can remember visiting him was Marlea. i lived there for a better part of 8 years of my life. i know the will is not being followed because i know how (Part) of it is drew up. No Willard didn’t get along with Freda, but i really don’t know of anyone who has or ever did or ever will. before the man was dead Melvin was talking about how he was going to run the fucking place.

I don’t know why you say Melvin screwed Willard over, I never once heard Willard say anything like that. When I lived there Melvin came and visited Willard all the time and they got along great, also Venita and Mike did visit . The only thing your right about here is the will isn’t being followed because Ruth is still there living in the main house. I have the will and it states she can stay on the property but she cannot stay there indefinitely and not in the main house. The judge who said she could stay was wrong in doing so. An Arnoldsburg woman, Samantha Brooke Starcher, 21, has been arrested after allegedly threatening her sister with a knife to her throat, according to a criminal complaint filed by Trooper D. C. Moore.
State Police responded to Hoot Owl Lane on Crummies Creek Thursday after family members complained about the woman’s behavior.
A day-long series of confrontations, which included Starcher’s mother and sister, started during a trip to Parkersburg during which time the accused made threats to kill family members, according to the complaint.
The mother said the accused “wanted to kill her (the mother) and wanted her dead.”
Later in the day, Samantha Starcher, “took a knife in her hand, walked behind the victim (her sister) and grabbed her by the hair,” says the complaint, “… she jerked the victim’s head back and ran the blade of the knife in a slashing motion near the victim’s neck,” according to the complaint.
Starcher has been charged with domestic assault and domestic battery to her mother and sister. She is being held on $7,500 bond.

An Arnoldsburg man was arrested last week after he chased down the car of his former girlfriend, blocking her vehicle, and assaulting her.
Noah Alan Bailey, 20, of Spring Run, according to a criminal complaint, encountered Alisha Warner driving her vehicle on Rt. 16 at Orma, after which he chased Warner north for several miles to the intersection of Crummies Creek-Rt. 16, when he “pulled in front of her to block her vehicle.”
Inside the Warner car was the couples six-month-old baby and Dillon Murphy. Bailey, according to the complaint, opened the car door, “grabbed (Warner) by the arm and pulled her to the ground,” causing some external injuries, and then “attempted to get at Dillon Murphy, who was in the passenger seat.”
Calhoun EMS and state trooper E. M. workman responded to the scene.
The complaint says Warner attempted to quiet her ex-boyfriend as he started to assault Murphy, “the baby was screaming and crying at this point,” with Bailey continuing to strike Murphy.
The complaint says Bailey struck Murphy 10-15 times, once to the right ear.
Warner, according to the complaint, continued to plead with Bailey regarding their child’s continued screaming, with Bailey responding, “He’s my son as well.”
“Murphy stated that during the incident he was pushed into the backseat on top of (the baby) which was in a car seat,” says the complaint.
The baby’s mother said the baby “threw up” while screaming.
Bailey was charged with domestic battery/assault on his ex-girlfriend and assault and battery on Murphy. He was also charged with child abuse/neglect creating risk of injury to the child.
Charges have been dropped against Bailey in Roane County after the victim of an alleged crime did not show in court.
Bailey had been charged with breaking and entering property at Walton, the owner reported six guns and equipment removed during the incident.
Way down here in Crooked County it seems one must serve the Church of Ike to get ahead. Man or woman must bow to idols of gold yet never own one in Gilmer County. The mother of a 3-year-old Weston girl who vanished eight months ago will spend eight months behind bars for welfare fraud.
Lena Lunsford will also spend a year on probation. She will begin serving her sentence June 28.
Lunsford appeared before U.S. District Judge John Preston Bailey after pleading guilty in January to selling $114 worth of credit on her food-stamp card for $50 cash.
Lunsford was indicted on multiple counts in October, accused of swapping the benefits for cash five times in two months.
Her daughter Aliayah disappeared from their Lewis County home Sept. 24 and has been the object of a wide-spread search and investigation.

Brian Kennedy said on video tape the NON INVESTIGATION supposed criminal investigation of the wrongful death of Willard Cottrill can be wrapped up. The fact of the matter is that, the local law enforcement supposedly in charge of the investigation of the wrongful death of Willard Cottrill are being investigated, because we all know there is no investigation, just like there was no investigation for the FRED HILL murders, in which the body turned up in the River just like the Secret Seven said it would months earlier, and even we were surprised when the body of FRED HILL popped up behind the Sheriffs house. Now we have info as to where the body was kept before it magically popped up behind the house of the Gilmer County Sheriff. Fred Hill was murdered just as sure as Willard Cottrill was and hey if you know Dr Miller, tell that dumb bitch that we will be there to see her try to explain the situation to people that want to take her medical license away for prescribing deadly morphine over the phone like a drug dealer or LISA STEWART, without even seeing the patient. None of us could have pulled off getting dangerous narcotics with a phone call, that fact is surprising to many.

Heard over the scanner at about 1pm or a little after today, the Sheriffs were being sent to the home of Melvin Cottrill for an investigation of wrongdoing, involving the death of Willard Cottrill and the subsequent wrongdoing of making a sale of property of an estate that had not been probated yet, or settled by a fiduciary commissioner.
It very well could be this illegal sale was the motive for the murder of Cottrill and the US Attorney’s office is being sent a report by the President of the Council of Concerned Citizens, and a request was made for justice department polygraphs.
Also, a request was made to investigate Gilmer County Sheriff Gerwig and Prosecuting Attorney Gerald B Hough for conspiracy charges and criminal cover ups of major crimes including RAPE and MURDER and a conspiracy to bring false cases against a broadcaster and other journalists for what they say on the radio and write in newspapers and websites exposing the truth about the criminal conduct of public officials in Gilmer County, and others in Central West Virginia.

The Central WV SS has already contacted the US Attorney and will be writing to the Office of Disciplinary Counsel in regard to the criminal conduct of Gerald B Hough, who is we found deeply involved in covering up this murder to the degree he has threatened several people. We also already sent mail to our out of state law enforcement contacts who recently arranged for us to present our evidence to federal authorities, with three letters.
As citizens we can’t make complaints to the Glenville detachment of the State Police, since the chief counsel for the Police Standards division is Virginia Lanham who is from Glenville, and was raised in Gilmer County and her father was a lawyer for the Church of Ike for twenty years. We already sent a snail mail letter to the office of the US Attorney complaining about Lanham and her involvement in covering up crimes concerning her friends and family members from Glenville and Gilmer County.

Folks need to keep in mind that the big Creston ATV Poker run is scheduled for Saturday, June 28 at the Creston Community Building. When running the route over the weekend the crew saw numerous deer, squirrels, a snapping turtle and some spectacular views.

The power company has been busy with the “pole saw” on the ridge at the head of Beaver Dam and the helicopter with the saws has been in the area. The helicopter saw cut within 50 feet of Roy Copen’s house and left his yard littered with limbs and debris. Also the ground crew cut down his mulberry bush that would have never got into the wires while they left the locust trees that had grown up through the power lines.

A good crowd was on hand Friday evening for the W. Va. Moody’s Investors Service downgraded Glenville State College, WV’s rating to junk, citing the school’s exposure to $25 million in bank debt and other fiscal stresses.
Moody’s downgraded the school two notches, to Ba2 from Baa3, June 12 and revised the outlook to negative.
The lower rating affects $4 million in Moody’s-rated lease-back bonds, which are subject to annual appropriation by the college.
GSC has a total of $35 million in bonds outstanding, including variable-rate debt and related swaps, and $25 million in bank bonds held by BB&T that are subject to demand payment.
“The downgrade to Ba2 with a negative outlook is driven by Glenville State College’s extended period of fiscal stress, elevated financial leverage, and extremely weak liquidity that is insufficient to cover $25 million of bank debt, which the bank has the option to call on August 31, 2014 or any day thereafter upon 120 days notice,“ said analyst Erin Ortiz.
The rating action also reflects the college’s negative operating margins, very thin debt service coverage, and a steeper drop in enrollment than originally anticipated with enrollment pressure likely to continue, Ortiz said.
Glenville State registered 315 first-year students in fall 2013 compared to the prior three years, which averaged 390 students.
Full-time enrollment dropped 8% to 1,330 in the fall of 2013, compared to the prior year.
Management projects that fall 2014 enrollment will remain flat or increase grow slightly based on applications so far, Moody’s said.
Located in Glenville, the accredited liberal arts and sciences college is the only public institution in central West Virginia.
It was founded in 1872.
Moody’s said the GSC faces a number of challenges, including “dual credit challenges of razor-thin liquidity and a complex debt structure.“
Fiscal 2013 monthly liquidity of $3.2 million covered $25 million of bank demand debt by just 12.9%.
The college also had negative operating margins, as calculated by Moody’s, averaging negative 8.8% from fiscal years 2011 to 2013.
While operating performance improved considerably in fiscal 2013, margins are expected to weaken in 2014 due to the enrollment decline, the rater said.
Additionally, state appropriations were about 9% lower in fiscal 2014 than in the prior year and are expected to be even lower in 2015

Think about this. The County Commission approved County bonds for GSC’s 30 million dollar new dorm without taxpayer approval. That debt has a negative effect on how much the County can borrow, right? After GSC’s fall to junk bond status does that hurt the County even more? What about word from the court house that the Commission is going to secretly approve millions more of bond money for GSC? What would that do for the County and where would all that money go? The posting about WVU taking GSC over is interesting. This week it was announced that WVU laid off 100 employees because of bad economic times. Does anyone think that WVU will swoop in to take over GSC when it would be a bad investment? The WVU bailout sounds like another example of trust us from the elite like the one that the prison would cure all our ills. We know all about what that got us. Does anyone see A WalMart at one end of town, a K-Mart at the other end, a Shoneys downtown, and a jet airport down the river to take care of the economic boom? Ultra simple. Those who control GSC failed with the elementary basics. In a business contest they are to provide a high quality product in steady demand, make it available at a price customers are willing to pay, and deliver it in a timely way. The claim about GSC being the best small public college in America is pure bunk. If that claim were true students would be flocking here and Glenville would be bursting at its seams. If one fourth of the emphasis had not been on new buildings and athletics and instead on high demand fields of study second to none in WV, GSC would have thrived in spite of our rural area and lack of amenities. The way GSC operates is dictated by those (the handful again) with money and political power with little or no knowledge of what it takes to make a college successful. Remember when it was advocated that a new 30 million dollar dorm would attract students? What happened from that decision? Does anyone think that the Waco Center will save the day? Sure, it is a signature building for all to see, but is there any evidence to suggest that it will be anything except another monument to a misaligned priority?

That handful theory has merit. When you look at local GSC Board of Governors members back to the time that Board was formed you will see the same names popping up to be among the known handful. One family in particular has had a member on the Board all those years and it deserves major credit for decisions causing GSC’s ruin with harm to Gilmer County and central WV.

A former Braxton County man, Billy Dunbar, Sr., 53, will appear in Calhoun Circuit County Monday for a pre-trial hearing, after being indicted in Calhoun on twenty five counts of sexual abuse, including incest.
The Grantsville man turned himself into the WV State Police regarding having a sexual relationship with his 16-year-old daughter and impregnating her.
Sr. Trooper J. A. Newman said that Dunbar “had to clear his conscience,” according to the criminal complaint.
He is in Central Regional Jail with bond set at $200,000.
The complaint says Dunbar had sex with his daughter multiple times since she was 15 until she reported being pregnant, details revealed during an interview with a CPS worker, according to the complaint.
Have to give him credit for at least having a conscience. Many don’t.
The Folk Festival totally sucked when compared to previous years, but what was most disappointing was that Gerry Hough was not there to demonstrate his VOODOO and Black Magic like he did in the old days when paying witnesses from far away states to come to WV and LIE FLAT OUT in Circuit Court about property that they owned, but they owned none.

A Ritchie County deputy accused of lying about how much he worked made an appearance in court Tuesday.
Cpl. James Asbury’s pretrial hearing was in Ritchie Magistrate Court, accused of falsely charging the county six and a half hours of overtime on April 1st.
Another deputy testified the fourteen and a half hours Asbury claimed he worked that day didn’t add up with records from a GPS unit installed in Asbury’s cruiser.
Sheriff Bryan Backus says he wanted to monitor Asbury because last fall he had shown the least amount of activity on his daily logs.
Chief administrative officer Ron Barniak testified a search warrant was never obtained to secretly install the GPS, saying no warrant was necessary because the cruiser is a sheriff’s department vehicle.
A Roane County man who was charged with malicious assault, wounding, battery, attempted murder, and nighttime burglary, remains in Central Regional Jail with bail set at $300,000.
Christopher Shawn Anderson, 37, allegedly stabbed 30-year-old Jonathan Starcher, multiple times in his own bed, while sleeping with his wife.
Anderson broke into the residence about 2 a.m. and stabbed Starcher with a pocket knife in the face, midsection and legs.
Deputy Matt Cooper with the Roane Sheriffs Department told Spencer Newspapers they believe Anderson had a relationship with Starcher’s wife.
Starcher has been released from a Charleston hospital.

There were 265 riders at the Creston ATV poker run. Jim Goff of Guysville won the 50/50, Kristine Garrison came in first followed by Jason Good & Tim Knopp. Knopp who is from Lilesville North Carolina noted that he drove over 400 miles to participate and that this was the first ATV poker run that he had ever done. Many of the riders played in Spring Creek and at the “playpens” out on some ridges and at the mouth of Beaver Dam. Many chariots were caked with mud and the riders were soaked, mud covered, etc. Those who noted saw butterfly weed and milkweeds at their prime and covered with Monarch and Viceroy butterflies. The setup crew jumped three coyotes down in Thorn’s Run and a hen turkey with little ones on the Sam Sheppard Ridge. The community would like to thank all that came and rode, those who set up the route, cut trees, etc. picked up the signs, those who donated or prizes, fixed the food, worked in the kitchen, sold tickets, chances on the Middleton doll, tee shirts, 50/50 tickets, etc.
Hallie Cunningham, age 94, passed away June 23 in Dunbar after a long battle with Alzheimers. She was the widow of Ray Cunningham and had been active for decades in the Burning Springs Methodist church. Burial was in the Beatty cemetery.
The Lockhart reunion will be Sunday, July 6, starting at noon at the Sportsman’s Park down at the mouth of Tucker’s Creek. All family members & friends are asked to bring a covered dish and come. It was also noted that Frank Sandy recently celebrated his 82nd birthday while Franklin Jr. turned 56.

Charles Russell was attending to business in Spencer and while there called on brother Euell, Ray Gumm and Mr. & Mrs. Parris Parsons. Euell noted that the folks at Miletree were eating fresh squash from their garden.
Rev. Keith Belt filled his regular appointment at the Burning Springs Methodist church. The sermon [Luke 7:36ff] had to do with a certain Pharisee who was really clueless, kinda like the “so called” leaders in both the Methodist & Presbyterian churches that have turned against Israel and are now supporting the Arab terrorists, just like the big eared one, Madame Hillary, gal pal Huma [Mrs. Weiner] and crew.
Those local folks who have connections to Glenville State College were surprised to learn that the school is now in the news for having their bonds lowered to Baa3 not too far from being called “junk bonds”. Way back when the college was in the academic business but such must be out of style now with common core, global warming taught as truth, etc.

Alvin & Nancy Engelke returned after visiting W. Harrison Schenerlein IV and his sister Rea & family. They all toured the circus museum at Sarasota which is worth visiting if one is in the neighborhood. In South Carolina the corn is 10 feet tall, shooting and tasseling and the tobacco is flowering and being topped. West Virginia was a big tobacco producing state until Hillary and Bill shut it all down so their donors from Brazil could send their product to the United States. Of course in third world countries there are not pesky rules about what can be sprayed on plants or what sort of toxic residues should be on items used for human consumption.
The announcement that Range Resources has committed 10,000 bbl/day ethane to the proposed ethane cracker plant at the Washington Bottom has been taken as a positive move for more drilling in the immediate area. Range started the Marcellus play in southwestern Pennsylvania and has an extensive acreage position in Clay County [& elsewhere].
The price of local Pennsylvania grade crude dropped to $105.24/bbl. with drip fetching $81.10, Marcellus & Utica light $96.42 and medium $104.24/bbl. Gasolene across the line in Virginia can be bought fr $3.21/gallon or 60 cents/gallon less than many places locally.
